Guide
to headgear
- Headgear
is designed to make space to align your teeth by pushing
your back teeth backwards.
- This
must be worn for 12-14 hours per day.
Build up to this by wearing for 4 hours in the evening on
the first two nights then on the third night go for 12 hours.
Keep an accurate record of the hours you wear the head gear
every day.
- Change
the elastics if you have any every two weeks.
- Contact
the practice immediately if you cannot wear the head gear
for any reason. Especially if it falls out at night.
There is no point in waiting for your next appointment to
let me know you cannot wear it.
ALWAYS
USE THE SAFETY DEVICE TO PREVENT THE HEAD GEAR FROM COMING OUT
OF THE MOUTH.
If
your head gear has any staples in it please replace these with
cotton stitches to prevent tearing pillows.
