Three linked appointments are required for these appliances which are designed to widen the arch of the upper teeth.

Appointment one(10 mins). A quick visit to place elastic bands (separators) between the back teeth.

Separators

These rubber rings are designed to make space between your teeth so that tooth attachments can be fitted at your next visit. They will make your teeth ache for 24 hours so you may need a painkiller (e.g paracetamol) before bed tonight.

Don’t worry if they fall out. This means that they have done their job.

Appointment two (20mins). The small gaps between your teeth allow me to place attachments and take impressions of your teeth so that the technician can make the appliance.

Appointment three (10 mins). The appliance is fitted.
